I thought it might be the holy grail of fixing soft shots when I first read about the InFocus software from Topaz Labs. Software that would fix this would be invaluable. In terms of depending on tech to much, I concur that you should try to have things right during the right time of capture but when all else fails, this kind of tech saves us. I did not try pictures that were way out of focus, but I tried the trial software with pictures that were soft either because the f stop was f18 on a good lens or the lens focus is simply soft like at mm on my Sigma lens.

On those dreaded either the person sitting into the foreground of this photo or the person standing behind the individual into the foreground were somewhat away from focus. The Infocus was applied by me product to three of the shots and I am very happy with the results. Not that impressed myself. I have used it for some macro photos…you just need to be extremely delicate regarding the strength for the sliders or you will overall degrade the image further. Then again I downsized the images I wanted to try it on plus it really does work miracles.

To help make the program work correctly, you need to tweak this system into aligning the blur of this image because of the proper blur correction algorithms int he software. The presets are for the most part worthless until you tweak them into matching the blur of the image. Some images is going to be motion blur, some away from focus, etc.

It really took the backdrop of this image making it noticeably sharper. I happened to be specially amazed by the detail it brought in to the bridge.

Lower grade lenses, which we have more of generally than pro lenses, would benefit also. In the beginning I'd no basic concept the things I had been doing and, even after viewing the tutorials, got frustrated.

Nonetheless, when I'd a real globe image that I wanted to improve I persisted. I eventually made my way over to youtube and found some tutorial videos that Topaz put out.
